I have an '06 with 41980 miles on it. I have the 4.7 v-8. I'm seriously considering pursuing the lemon law in CT for my Commander, tell me what.
Anyone successfully lemon-law their Renegade, or get Chrysler credit?

For those visiting from google:
My 2015 Jeep Renegade was a lemon.
The transmission was garbage & lurched like crazy.
The electronics went haywire on a regular basis.
Jeep support was awful. Good luck if you get in my situation!
Super disappointed in the response of FCA's highest-level support team. Good luck getting help in returning or replacing your car, or getting any real fixes for intermittent and/or recurring problems. I traded it in this month & wholeheartedly plan on never buying another Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler/whatever product again. Great price, great feature set, dice roll on reliability.
I understand that sometimes you get a dud, but they didn't 'make it right' for me. They flat-out told me to just keep taking it in for service, and service didn't have any fixes to work off because they weren't being addressed. I lost time & money at my job because of this. It was unreliable for my family. It died & had to be towed in multiple times. It locked us in a grocery store parking lot with the pushbutton parking brake unable to be unlocked. Alarm would randomly go off, especially in the middle of the night. The electronics would spaz out on a regular basis.
Anyway, my experience was not great. Jeep should have replaced my vehicle & refused to. In fact, it should have never had any of these problems to begin with. Most aren't lemons, but some are, and if you get one, I wish you the best!
Because this is an archived post & all I can do is edit my original posts, I am updating this for people who are coming in via google searches (getting a lot of PM's, as this is the first result that comes up when you do a google search for 'Jeep Renegade lemon' or 'Jeep Renegade lemon law'). In a nutshell:

Purchased new in November of 2015 (first-year model); owned it about 15 months now.
Has been in the shop nearly 3 months total (not consecutively).
I have had endless problems with it. I think I'm on my fifth computer (DOA, fried, glitchy, etc.). 20+ documented problems, everything from BCM failure to the alarm going haywire in the middle of the night to the car going completely dead & having to get towed because it wouldn't even jump-start (this happened multiple times).
I recognize that mine is a lemon. I have 3 friends with Renegades with zero issues. Some are just duds. Although Renegades seem to have a higher number of lemons than other new cars. None of my loaners had any of the issues I experienced in mine (which I documented by logging dates, times, description of the problems, and photos/videos when applicable). It seems like when you do get problems with this vehicle, it's go big or go home.
Jeep has not come through for me. I2R (their highest support team) straight-up told me they refuse to refund me or replace it & will continue to send me back for service, despite never getting things truly fixed, until the warranty runs out. I cannot express my disappointment with Chrysler 'Care'. They are obviously incentivized to do everything in their power to not take the car back & don't care about their reputation. They have a strong, macho loyalty base and a few duds isn't going to ruin how people look at them (not even their Cherokee/Grand Cherokee transmission issues did that). Unfortunately, that translates out to the company not taking care of the customer. I am very upset with their lack of resolution on my issues.
My first experience with Jeep has been awful. I have had Dodges in the past & all of them have had serious quality control issues. Again, I recognize that mine is a lemon, but I do expect Jeep to take care of me on a brand-new $25,000 purchase with me being a first-time customer to their brand. I will never buy an FCA product ever again because of this experience. I do not trust my car; Jeep does not stand by their product. This is not a safe care for my family. I haven't even crossed 15,000 miles yet (1,000 per month) despite driving a lot because my family refuses to take it anywhere because something always breaks on it. We do not take it on long trips because it's not trustworthy.
Went through my state's lemon law process (Connecticut). Went as far as getting an attorney. Best they could do was blue book value. Paid $25k new. Worth $16k on the market. Paid down about $5k so far. So basically I would return it & owe $4,000 cash. I might as well just trade it in or sell it myself and skip all of the legal fees at that point. I decided not to bite. As I don't want to liquidate $4k immediately, I will continue to pay it down until I get close to (or meet) KBB value so that at least I won't have negative equity to worry about. Downside is that I have to continue dealing with it until I get rid of it. I am the laughingstock of my friends because it wigs out whenever I hang out with anybody. It is not fun to feel embarrassed about your ride, especially when you bought it brand-new.
I am looking to replace my lemon Renegade with a Honda Ridgeline (gen 2) later this year, although I am going to wait until the second model year (2018, due out later this year) because I learned my lesson about buying first-year products. I can say with some confidence that I will never, ever buy another Jeep product again, or for that matter, any FCA product. This has been the most frustrating car ownership experience of my life. I hate to deter people from the Renegade because aside from the problems I have with my personal vehicle & aside from Jeep refusing to deal with the problem in an adult manner by resolving my defective vehicle, I really like the car...it's cool, it's roomy, the AWD/4WD system is great, etc. Other than the bugs, the only thing I really don't like is the 9-speed transmission (endless shifting & makes an otherwise adequate engine feel underpowered & react oddly/slowly), although my unit has a lot of transmission problems in addition to the other issues.
I wish I had better things to say. It's a cool little car. Mine is a piece of junk. I would have been thrilled if Jeep had simply given me a working replacement. At this point, I am completely turned off to the brand. It's sad because it's a unique little car; I get stopped in the parking lot at least once a week by people asking me how I like it & it's hard not to unload all of my complaints. Or they can just see it themselves when the alarm goes off or the parking brake won't turn off or whatever is the problem of the day.
TL;DR: My particular Renegade is a lemon. After extensive visits to the shop, Jeep has refused to replace the vehicle or refund my money. The best they would do (through the state) is offer market value for it, which would cost me $4,000 to hand it over, due to depreciation. I am current paying it down month to month until I get close to trade-in value so that it doesn't kill my budget, although I am stuck continuing to deal with the ongoing problems. I will never buy another Jeep/FCA product again because of this experience.
Original post:
I've had numerous issues with my '15 Renegade; I'm sick to death of dealing with them. Just had it towed in AGAIN. Been to the dealership for service half a dozen times since I bought it late last year; 8,000 miles of nonsense. Talked to the dealer & they said there's nothing they could do locally and to call Chrysler to see about getting a buy-back. Called Chrysler and they told me to start the lemon-law process.
I've never done lemon-law before; it starts with a $50 payment, plus a 16-page form & looks like it may possibly involve hiring a lawyer or attorney. I'd really rather not sink money into this, but I can't keep dealing with these issues anymore. Has anyone been successful in either doing a state lemon-law or getting Chrysler to give them some kind of credit to replace it?
